ESPN yanked one of its radio hosts off the air after he told listeners he hoped Sen. Edward Kennedy, D-Mass., "would live long enough to be assassinated." The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette says Mark Madden made the comment last week, just days after Kennedy was diagnosed with brain cancer."I'm very disappointed to hear that Senator Ted Kennedy of Massachusetts is near death because of a brain tumor. I always hoped Senator Kennedy would live long enough to be assassinated," he said on his talk show, according to the paper.
The paper says Madden apologized for the comments a few hours later. ESPN later decided to cancel his show.
"This is the decision we have made, and we feel it is the right one," network spokesman Josh Krulewitz tells the Post-Gazette.
